The Patient Nobody Would Operate On
He went all over China, and they all told him the same thing.... Inoperable!!!! When patients come to me after being told there are no options left, that’s when my work matters most. Deep in the brain, the internal capsule, where even the smallest damage can lead to permanent paralysis, he was told he likely wouldn’t come through this unscathed. But he put his trust in me, and that trust was matched by a team who all shared the same optimism. Having people around you who beli

Cambodia - When Giving Recognises Giving
Images 1 & 2 - Neurosurgery outpatient waiting room...40 degrees heat...no air-conditioning... puts things in perspective. image 3 - The case was far from straightforward. A large acoustic neuroma, challenging anaesthetic conditions, and a theatre without even the most basic microsurgical tools, no micro-instruments, no head holder, and no facial nerve monitoring. Latest Venture in China

This is Prof. Ling Feng ensuring the infrastructure is exactly how I have always dreamt that a Centre of Excellence should look. 26th April 2026

Her parents sought opinions from leading neurosurgical centres across China, and each of us had to caution them about the probable outcome of surgery, paralysis on her left side. I felt deeply privileged that they entrusted me wit

When “Inoperable” Isn’t the End
Muhammed is a remarkably brave nine-year-old refugee from Syria. After experiencing months of balance difficulties, followed by severe headaches and vomiting, he was diagnosed with a brainstem glioma located in the midbrain, one of the most delicate and critical areas of the brain. His parents were devastated when they were told the tumour was inoperable and likely fatal within 12 months. Seeking hope, they requested a second opinion. Upon reviewing his case, I believed there

Building a Center of Excellence in Neurosciences
The inaugural Hands-on Cadaver Course in Wuzhishan was successfully held in November 2025. Focused on Keyhole Endoscopic Cranial Surgery, the course was directed by Professor Charlie Teo and brought together 56 local and national neurosurgeons from across China. This landmark event took place in a newly completed five-storey teaching facility, the realization of Professor Ling Feng’s vision to establish her institute in Hainan Province as a true Center of Excellence in Neuros
