Support the Charlie Teo Foundation

Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and more people under 40 than any other cancer.  The worst type of brain cancer, GBM, is also the most common and has an average survival of only 15 months from diagnosis.

As a neurosurgeon I have operated on patients from all around the world who have been given no hope. At the Charlie Teo Foundation, we fund game-changing brain cancer research, offering hope of a better future for patients and families.

We need to start thinking differently to find a solution.

“Dr Teo explained everything to me in great lengths in regards to my scans, what tumour it may be where it is located and so on. He also explained in taking out the whole tumour and leaving some of the tumour. I was in Dr Teo’s consultation room for 3 hours he went through everything and answered all my questions.

….. thanks to Dr Teo I’m alive and running I have actually joined a run club . Dr Teo saved my life and in so many ways.

Dr Teo is the most humble caring down to earth Neurosurgeon I have met he is salt of the earth. Dr Charlie Teo made me feel like a real person and that my life actually mattered, and he genuinely does give a shit about his patients. I did not feel like a number which is what other Doctors made me feel like.”

“After considerable research I specifically chose to go to Professor Teo, and thus the Prince of Wales, because of his proven ability and, importantly, his courage to listen to and follow the wishes of his patient’s.

My case was complex and carried significant risks which were clearly set out and explained by Professor Teo.

After discussion with other medical professionals, I took the view that Charlie’s skill, care, and courage to do the complex surgery would give me the best opportunity to lead a productive life.

I have not been disappointed. I have since returned to work and feel robust and mentally acute.”

“I was flown to Brisbane to have brain surgery. Unfortunately, only partial removal was achieved due to the tumour being on the brain stem. It was a long recovery (then) to find out the brain tumour was growing back. I was told I only had 3 months to live. As you can imagine nobody wants to hear those words!!!

I am so fortunate that my Aunty had seen Dr Charles Teo on television…. He explained the risks and procedure to me. I knew straight away and felt so reassured that I wanted Dr Teo to operate on me. The operation was SUCCESSFULL and not to mention I was only in hospital for 3 days.

I was clear for 14 years until 2014. I was faced with another challenge, unrelated Breast Cancer (with) a brain tumour growing. So once again Dr Teo operated and gave me a Third chance at Life!

Australia is so Fortunate to have such a professional, highly skilled, amazing neurosurgeon. I have referred and spoken to a number of patients that Dr Teo has operated on that have also been given the gift of life!!.”
